Mailed the hair ribbons to Jen.  Met Janet for three loaves of her great bread.  Stopped at the Senior Center for bagels and.

Ron finished his cards!

Ed dropped off a nice DD gift card and left because the kitchen smelled from last night’s fish.

Got the x-ray of my right knee done and ordered for Dr. vonHaam and Cape Cod Rehab.

Brought the pine to Emma’s.  She’d invited us for lunch and a visit with Gabriel, aka Mr. Baby!

We think Woody must have neatly stacked the oak.

I made 2 1/2 dozen candy “bullets”:  half with soy butter and white chocolate for Ron and half with peanut butter and dark chocolate.

Got a call from the woman who restored an old photo of Nonna.  Dropped everything to meet her at Deer Crossing.  Stopped for a roast chicken at S&S on the way home.  Chicken, roasted kale from yesterday, Limpa bread for supper.

Sunday before Christmas, so we gathered at the Royal Megansett to see Mary.

I was asked to get coffee. Ron came up with the idea to bring Irish whiskey and whipped cream, which was appreciated by all.

Cathy brought remarkable pastries from the Patisserie in downtown Falmouth. It was the Boulangerie Patisserie; now Maison Villatte(?)

We had a fine visit, then left to get organized for the transfer station run.

At Edgewater, Peter helped us load the truck. We brought gifts for the hard-working guys that have been so helpful to us through the year.

I deposited the balance of the iPad funds. Got home, ravenous because we hadn’t really had lunch. We (both of us) made baked kale and fish. Donuts for dessert!

We finished delivering a half cord of oak to Emma’s late yesterday afternoon: 3 trips over two days, 2,700 pounds, 150+ pieces.

It had started raining by the time we were done and it was dark by the time we got home.

I heated up broth with dandelion greens, red onion and eggs for supper.

I made a baked omelet – Jarlsberg, tomato, onions, caraway seeds, dandelion greens, bacon – for brunch.

Heard from Trinity Solar; the info we got yesterday was wrong. The trees that we cut down had contributed to the shade. Meanwhile, Connie gave us permission to take down the remaining three.  Her arborist friend will be by to give us a quote.

Registered and got a schedule at Cape Cod Physical Therapy!

We weighed, loaded and delivered a half ton of the logs that Ron sawed yesterday to Emma’s for the winter of 2015 and/or 2016.  We got to feed Buddy and his “cousins” Tiny Tim and Shadow.

Emma’s brother and sister-in-law, Woody and Joanne, were on hand to help Ron unload.

Joanne fed us cookies and invited us in to see her magnificent Christmas tree.

As we were leaving, she invited us for Christmas morning breakfast!

We visited the Cataumet Art Center open house: beautiful.  I bought an ornament made of pine needles for Ron.

Back home, Ron got to feed Remy:  four dogs in one day!

Ron poured us a couple of glasses of Barefoot (ugh) Extra Dry champagne last night.

I was up three times, hurting.  At one point, I couldn’t get warm.  The nausea was awful.

Aside from that debacle, yesterday was pretty good for us.  We got an okay from the insurance company inspector and picked up a new smoke detector and two outdoor mats for Edgewater.

We had lunch and did a shop at Market Basket.

Peter had help from James and Robert, but he hurt his back moving boxes and old computer equipment in preparation for the inspection.  We happened to pass him going toward Hyannis.  He called us a minute or two later to see if we could take Emme to JRI because his back was making it impossible for him to drive.

I was thrilled when Emme told us that she really likes their house now!

Made a train wreck and baked an acorn squash.  Tomato/mushroom sauce on the stove.

Lots of peelings for the compost.

Ron took Peter, then me, to our doctor appointments.

I finished writing and mailing my holiday cards.

Ron is trying to fix my poor sauce, which he overspiced.  Told him to be grateful, not everyone gets a shot at redemption….

Given our fabulous smorgasbord meal last Saturday and this afternoon’s mid-December light behind the pine trees in our back yard, I could imagine us being in Sweden or Denmark right now.

To sustain the daydream a little longer, I made us a cold micro-smorgasbord: chicken liver pate prepared this morning, Jarlsberg and Cheddar cheeses, pepper rings, balsamic fig spread, fruit compote from yesterday, apple with cinnamon and sugar, orange segments, melba toast.

Did more leaf cleanup and a transfer station run yesterday afternoon.

We picked up Ron’s chain at Botello’s and delivered a gorgeous Christmas tree to Cindy and Julia’s last evening.  Grabbed a Friday special $8 pizza in the meantime.

Today, we cleared more “stuff” from around the ping pong table.  April came over as planned, and she and Ron took it apart and loaded it on her truck.

I dropped off the missing transformer to the lady to whom I gave the heating pad, then brought recyclables from my paper cleanup to the transfer station.  Picked up dry cleaning, wine and cash on the way home.  Did laundry.  The lady sent a very gracious and most enthusiastic report on how much she’s enjoying the heating pad!

We had a great time at the First Lutheran Church’s annual smorgasbord, something we’ve been looking forward to for a year.  The setting was beautiful, the food was magnificent and after a false start, the company was outstanding.  I emailed our dinner companions to see if they have an interest in continuing our conversation.
