This week went by fast. Ron finished cutting up the Russian Olive today for Emma.
Alpha landed the job and is in training for the next week.
I made salad for lunch and we worked together on prepping vegetables to be roasted: carrots, turnip, beans, kale.
Made a heavy soup the other day. Cheese sandwiches and minestrone for lunch yesterday.
Disappointing meeting at Mashpee HS this Wednesday. Never again!
Pressure’s off at work for the moment, not so much for me, but everyone else.
We did laundry, changed sheets, read the papers, got ice cream at Polar Cave and did the transfer station run. Wrote up minutes from yesterday’s meeting, sent them along for review.
I fell asleep for about two hours late afternoon. When I woke up, “Kedi” was here.
Feeling better today, intestine-wise. May it continue.
Whoever heard of a documentary where ALL the people are good? We saw one, the first of this year’s WHFF “Film Falmouth” series, last night at Falmouth Academy.
Ron, Alpha and I attended a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Tribe government center, then saw – and all of us loved – the film “Kedi” about the cats of Istanbul.
In the morning, Ron and I attended the two-hour annual meeting of the SPEA, held under a popup in the pouring rain.
I was up at 4. Intestinal distress all day.
Ron and I went to an open house at the Cotuit Historical Society last evening: nice!
We bought a pumpkin there and left it at Edgewater on the way home.
Ron mowed the lawn yesterday.
I plowed through some stuff for Mark and also for Jim (and Olivier) today.
Ron cut down a Russian olive that’s been bothering him for years because the branches almost touched the roof.
FINALLY set up the speakers and the one lamp in the bedroom so that a) I can listen to music that isn’t on Sonos and b) we can switch the lamp on/off from the wall switch.
Indian-style stir fry and brown rice for supper.
Got a sincere, personal thank you from Brandy and Alex today. One of the nicest ever received and the only one from the 3 young couples we’ve gifted this past 12 months. Classy.
The Sandwich Porch Fest was rained out, sadly, so we did the transfer station run and finished other chores around 4. Picked up a 2-fer at Pizza Prima for lunch/supper.
It being early and the last day of Job Lot’s 40% off everything under $10 anniversary sale, I did some shopping: covers for the new deck chairs, unsalted nuts, crackers, cookies, trash bags, bandaids, dishwasher detergent, sponges and about 100 tulip bulbs, which ended up being even cheaper than online.
Poor Ron started to build a loft in the shed. He pulled out only about 2/3 of the contents; I am horrified by the amount of stuff I’ve accumulated over 15 years. Must get rid of at least half of it, if not more.
Had breakfast this morning with Cathy and Cindy, then did a half hour standout at Falmouth Green.
Instead of going to see a Modern House in Wellfleet, I worked on my project for LaMotte and solved a ridiculous JSON problem.
I did some weeding in the front while Ron worked on the shed.
Leftover vegetable quiche and salad for supper.
After I fed us and cleaned up the kitchen, Ron pitched a fit when I asked him to interrupt his stupid TV watching long enough to move two pictures. About 30 seconds of work.
Tough S*t.
Visited the Mashpee Oktoberfest, very well attended this year, perfect day. Picked up a quart of Vermont maple syrup and some cookies there, then more carbs at the Farmers Market. Radishes later at the Pariah Dog Farm stand after a standout on Falmouth Green.
Ron did the laundry, we changed the sheets and did the transfer station run. I did a little yard work, including sawing off the dogwood’s side limbs.
Baked some stuffed delicata squash, not quite long enough; Ron made salad for supper.

Almost threw Ron out this morning, but he redeemed himself.
I’ve been having a rough time with neighbors. He tried to patch things up with one and pretty much blew it the first time. Made it better in a second visit.
I’ve been stressing about a work project but finally made progress today.
The neighbors had bitched to me about chainsaw work Ron did back in July. It was on a Monday. I complained to them about 5 1/2 hours of loud noise from their lawn people this past Saturday. Big difference.
Ron seeded a corner of the front lawn that has a bunch of bare patches.
He also did the CSA run.
It’s been quite warm and we have the A/Cs on. Even so, the electric bill we got today was only a dollar and change.
Paul came by to drop off a nice photo of South Cape Beach. He thought he was having problems with his merchant account, but looks like the funds came through today after 5 days in transit. Talk about playing the float.
Paul mentioned a problem sending email to me yesterday. I did notice that nothing was getting through for a couple of hours. Turned out to be GoDaddy, and they fixed things pretty quickly.
