Waiting for Rain

We may be getting a good rain tonight. Ron worked hard, putting up stakes and burlap around the moonlight garden. Now that the stakes are in, I’d like to surround it with hardware cloth.

Worked with Mark for most of the afternoon on delete customer. Got it running but not sure it’s doing what it needs to.

Peter is doing cleanup at their house and made two trips with the truck to the transfer station today.

Woods Hole Swells; Corn

We spent the last two evenings at the woods Hole Film Festival. Last night we saw the “Shortsapalooza”, which I’ve wanted to attend for years.

We stopped in to the MBL club afterwards for a reception – Ron smashed a dish during a dance performance – then to Don Cross’s gallery for another.

Corn is coming along.

Woods Hole and Falmouth Frolic

We saw two films, one at Falmouth Academy and the other at Redfield.  Had a light snack at Pie in the Sky then sat in on part of Bittersweet’s first set at Grumpy’s.

“Tribal Justice” was an account of 3 adjudications by female judges who serve the Quechen and Yurok tribes in California.  Two were successful examples of restorative justice.

“Can Hitler Happen Here” ends in the vindication of an elderly Manhattan woman who’s been harassed by greedy neighbors and real estate agents, the cops, the fire department, an ambitious social worker and her own avaricious son.

I regret not visiting Grumpy’s before; beautiful venue for music, but way too hot.  One of the staff sympathized, told us it cools off in October, so we’ll be back.

They’re In

Finally finished planting the bare root daylilies I bought last week from Soares today.  Hope they survive.

Ron went to the senior center, drove Robert to work and met with Beltone.

We picked up our CSA share.

Ron dropped off oak leaf branches for Emma’s sheep and picked up a sandwich I’d ordered online at Subway.  I’d inadvertently muted my phone and thus bolloxed the conversation multiple times.  Was very hungry, too, became a madwoman for a while.

While Ron drove Robert home, I checked out the police/fire/community agency event.  Was insulted by an idiot who was “helping” serve ice cream and had a long conversation with people from Habitat who, to their credit, were very polite.

Skype did me in yesterday, again, feedback from my headset and computer mics.

Climbing Denali?

Well, maybe not, but I feel that way today, maybe leftover tiredness from yesterday.

I picked up a few things, including thread for the drapes project, at Walmart this morning.

Made a “hash” of eggs, flour, roasted vegetables and quinoa for lunch.

Watered off and on today.  Ron did the mowing.

We hung a white wash on the line.  Ron laundered the sheets; I made the bed.

Trash run.

Found a typo in a config file.

First the Blade, and Then the Ear

The corn has silks.  Let’s hope we get ears.

New computer arrived Thursday morning.  Installed Visual Studio today.

Ron hurt his back doing power washing but is much better today.

I did some watering, weeding, mulching and cleanup in the front gardens.  Bought some bare root daylily fans at Soares earlier this week “for a song” and planted several of them.

Laura generously offered to help me with my sewing project.  I ordered drapery hooks today.

Roasted root vegetables, greens and squash for lunch.  The radishes were a particular surprise.

We did a marathon floor cleaning today.  Ron vacuumed and I power washed with Laura’s steam cleaner.  100% better.
