Dog Tick; Frustration at Shaw’s

Yesterday I’d planned to go to Hyannis to donate blood but found a dog tick in my scalp. Visited the recently-opened Urgent Care Center in Falmouth, which did nothing since it wasn’t a deer tick and I’d caught it within 24 hours. KVH agreed.

I brought the truck in for a check of the Check Engine codes, bringing it back on Friday for a diagnosis.

Got gas, 30 cents off at Stop & Shop which was a win compared to Cumby.

Did a shop at Shaw’s. Total frustration with their self-serve terminal, I slammed it with my fist. White privilege. I had to get help three times. Did get bagels for Ron, avocados on sale and a hanging plant.

Did a walk at Falmouth Heights.

Back to Falmouth in the afternoon for CSA. Got there just in time to miss the mob. Picked up groceries at Stop & Shop, big spending day.

Made deviled eggs.

MRTC meeting at a private home last night. It was nice. Had been a while since I attended a meeting so I brought cash as well as a portable chair and snacks in individual packets. Our new president is doing a fine job!

Made a big salad this morning, enough for at least two meals for both of us.

Canceled NOOM yesterday and added an app to the iPhone that provides a meal diary, which is pretty much all I need at this point to stay on track. The diary includes nutrition info, which is more than the NOOM food dictionary offers.

Big Salad; Slush from Cans

Ron went wild with vegetables for last Friday’s get-together, and this was on top of a Misfits shipment and CSA.

So, I’ve been cramming us with salads and stir fry.

Dug out two huge patches of grass from the corner garden.

Froze four old cans of fruit yesterday because slush sounded healthier than compote.

Opened one of the cans of pears today, and it made a terrific Summer slush, which we had with (unhealthy) rum and triple sec. Will do this again.

Missing

The FIXD still hasn’t turned up, but yesterday I did find my gardening knife.

Yesterday we did laundry and changed sheets, and I did some more housecleaning.

Visited G and Free briefly to help finish Free’s application for a 2020 license.

Sauteed seven different vegetables with tofu.

It was not a great weekend for diet, but the scale was kind this morning.

Vacuumed the truck. The check engine light is on again.

Wine and Cheese; Mowed

I finished the post-Covid project for the school yesterday and billed them today.

Rained last night. I mowed the lawn today.

Ron did a giant shop at Roche. We cleaned the house like mad yesterday morning and enjoyed a nice wine, cheese and veggies with our friends and their dogs at 5. The dogs got along great.

A/C; Ron’s Cellphone; FixD

Late yesterday afternoon, after a walk and while I took flowerbox photos, Ron left his cellphone in the men’s room at Popponessett Marketplace and, remarkably, it was still there when he went back for it at 8:30 pm.

It hit 90 outside, and our A/C switched on when the thermostat reached 75.

I still can’t find my FixD, but the company offered to sell me a new one at 50% off.

Cooking

Yesterday I dug into the produce from Misfits and sauteed kale, potatoes (Ron pitched in), brussell sprouts and baby bellas.

Ron made some fabulous scrambled eggs with sweet peppers and cottage cheese.

Made acorn squash soup for supper.

Made arrangements for G’s and T’s furballs to visit on Friday.

Did a minor sweep of the shed. Ron did a food shop. First Citizens removed the overdraft charges on savings; I added alerts for both accounts.

More Truck Grief, Walks

I brought the truck to Midas for warranty work on the exhaust system (O2 sensor, etc.). They found problems with the cooling system: cracked radiator and the condenser failed. They replaced the A/C, which was out of warranty. I’m waiting for a call from Battles to bring it in.

We took two walks yesterday in West Barnstable, the first with G and Free at Meetinghouse Farm and the second at the Cape Cod Pathways cross-town trail behind the fire station. Ron remarked how extraordinary it is to be able to park and walk this well-maintained trail without having to pay anything.

Tomatoes, Pepper, Scorton Creek

We loaded the truck and did a transfer station run.

Finished shopping and planting for the spring/summer today: tomatoes from Sprout Farm; pepper, tomato, cuke and million bells from Attaquin Acres.

Ron finished the lawn that I started yesterday.

Went for a walk on one of the Scorton Creek/Hoxie Pond trails with G and Free.

Truck is not happy, grinding noise when I put on the A/C and Check Engine lights for exhaust system issues.

I’m tired….
