Ron and I were invited to his company’s end of summer dinner at Coonamessett Farm. Great food, good company and gluten-free cheesecake for dessert! Not to mention the Farm’s adorable lamb, who bravely confronted the group from the Lion.
Bad Leg, Kale Chips
My leg hurt a lot last night, waking me up several times.
Made kale chips, roasted green beans and corn bread with tomatoes, cheese and black beans this morning.
Had a breakthrough with my project. Encouraging email yesterday from Jim. New colleagues have been fantastic.
Ron’s back to work and doing well.
Thought for the day: every time a rich person gets keelhauled by their own yacht, an angel gets its wings.
Beautiful Melon!
Pesto
I cut down most of the basil, which was turning brown, and made a couple of batches of pesto.
Froze the pesto in a plastic ice cube tray and put the cubes in a plastic bag.
I’d post a photo except that they look like goose turds.
Made a terrible mahi dish earlier this week – the fish and squash were good, but I made the mistake of using lemon slices (bitter) instead of lemon juice – and a really good zucchini dish today from Laura’s recipe.
Ellen prepared a gorgeous salad for us on Thursday with mushrooms, sliced almonds, cranberries and chicken. Wish I’d taken a photo of the view from her deck. It looks something like this.

Lean-To Shed
“I don’t know what I’m doing but I must be doing something right.” Ron and Joe placed the lean-to shed so that it almost exactly meets setback requirements. A bigger shed would have put us over.
They figured out this morning that the shingles I thought would work are non-standard. Miraculously, Joe had some in his shed that did the job.
I’ve made so many mistakes along the way, something I’m not used to. Thank goodness for Joe!
Hyannis Harbor

Yesterday was Alpha’s YAG meeting, so after picking up shed roof supplies at Home Depot, I sat for a while at the JFK/Korean War Memorial parks overlooking Hyannis Harbor.
Shed: Plan B
Ron and Joe have been working on the lean-to shed for the past two days.
We discovered that the shed is too tall for the Plan A location on the cement slab, so the guys are constructing it near the driveway.
They got the walls built yesterday and the foundation and floor today.
I picked up a few things that didn’t come with the kit, like L-brackets and pea gravel, as well as roof felt, drip edge and hardware cloth to keep the critters out.
I made stir fry tonight with spiralized squash, beans, tomatoes, garlic and shrimp. Cut up a bunch of fruit yesterday: pineapple, watermelon, grapes, blueberries. Also made pesto.
Drove Robert and Alpha today, Robert and James yesterday.
