GOP-Funded SuperPacs Against Clinton

Future45 and American CrossRoads are GOP-controlled SuperPacs that have funded attack ads against Hillary Clinton using talking points raised by Bernie Sanders.

Future45 “is funded by some of the country’s largest GOP donors, including hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer” “In just one recent ad from the influential Republican super PAC American Crossroads, the uber-conservative group spent a substantial amount of its and the Kochs’ $4.3 million against Clinton parroting a constant Sanders’ attack against Clinton for earning Wall Street speaking fees. There have been no small number of pundits who have suggested, not errantly according to the American Crossroads ad campaign, that a fair share of the attacks on Clinton from “alleged” liberals are being funded and promoted by uber-conservative groups.”

Library Board, Pariah Dog Farm, Michigan

So, the Sanders anthem of fantasy and self-absorption has resulted in a big win in Michigan.

I understand this very well, having grown up and gone (briefly) to college with that lot.

I sat in on the Library Board meeting yesterday. Ron worked at the Lion and got home early enough that we could both wander over to Pariah Dog Farm for their CSA open house.

Money In Politics

Money in politics: so what?

Candidates for public office know that the most effective way to reach constituents is one:one.

How many of us ignore political ads on TV, recycle or toss campaign literature or hang up on robo calls?

If millionaires and billionaires want to put money on a bet with only a 50% chance of winning, let them spend themselves into the Stone Age for all I care.

Sympathizing with the Trumpites

Trump supporters are angry, but I don’t think it’s with the government per se.

They are angry about being bullied by sadistic bosses, having their jobs taken away and handed to third world scabs, being dumped on by virtue of race, gender, appearance and other factors beyond their control and seeing able-bodied people live the life to which they aspire by milking the system.

Bernie Sanders’ “solutions” don’t come close to eliminating inequality of opportunity or the routine discrimination and inequity that all of us encounter, Black or White, every day.

I don’t blame the Trump crowd for being angry at a Bernie-ite who invaded their rally. She was thumbing her nose at their justifiable anger at all of the indignities they’ve experienced all their adult lives.

Double Lions; Estia with Paul; Caucus; Brush; Pizza

Busy couple of days: we were both at the Lion yesterday, and I checked out The Coffee Table’s new location in Forestdale.

We had dinner with Paul at Estia last night: two orders of octopus, an appetizer sampler and lamb chops.

I dropped by the Mashpee Democrat caucus today to return some signs. We loaded up the truck with brush this afternoon and brought it to All Cape. Picked up a couple of pizzas and some produce at Mahoney’s farmers market.

I uploaded a number of new files to MRS.

Good Day

Even Mr. Rotten couldn’t spoil this one.

Gave Robert a ride this morning.

Was able to collect enough signatures at the polls today to file my nomination papers.

Campaigned for Hillary a good part of the day. Went to Liam’s with Ron tonight to watch results with other Hillary supporters.

Best one-liner at the Mashpee polls: voter (pointing to Trump sign): “Is it a human being? Like my Dad used to say, ‘feed it and maybe it will go away.'”

Caught up with some people from the past who I like.

Leap Year Day, 2016

100_6739As posted earlier, got both vehicles serviced at Cormier’s this morning.

Peter came over and miraculously fixed Ron’s network so that his backup drive is now useable.

We visited our friend Emma and her Mr. Toddler grandson.

Did a modest grocery shop.

Uploaded new files to MRS. This year’s enrollment: 63, versus 33 at this time last year. I can’t quite believe it; how did we pull that off?

Late Start, Got It Done

Hadn’t realized until we left Edgewater around 3:13 how late I made us today.

We managed to complete two transfer station runs, although we were the last car.

Got laundry and sheets done in the morning, card for Alpha.

Watched the film Spotlight last night, took out a digital subscription to The Globe this morning.
