Traps

I made a casserole for lunch with the zuke from our garden, onion, red pepper, cheese and mushroom soup. Baked potatoes and made a big salad. Helped Ron with cleanup. Even so, it took him quite a while to finish.

Jett decided not to eat today; finally had some food around 8.

Ron loaded the new mouse traps and boy, have they been busy: one snapped within half an hour of placement. Just now Ron saw a mouse run out from under the frig.

I removed one this morning with a live mouse. It was badly injured. I wasn’t sure how to put it out of its misery so just released it. Don’t know what happened to it.

Comments on the state rep debate from last night pretty much reflect my opinion. John Barrett was prepared, Fitch his opponent was not. There is concern that Fitch wants to do the bidding of Beacon Hill, which is the last thing we need.

Observation: the opponent’s crowd was raucous at the end and did not represent him well. They treated a dignified debate like a steel cage match.

We were thinking about going to a concert at the Historical Museum but passed when we learned there was an admission fee. It wasn’t outrageous but we are spending only on essentials these days. Like mouse traps.

Remedy App

I finally got the chart of relief items to render correctly. Took hours but it was worth it. Tested the app on my laptop as well as Andi’s before packing it up and returning it to Dan.

Stop and Shop for peanut butter. Peet’s was on sale. Also picked up long matches and good veg burgers that are sometimes hard to find.

Ron replaced the lightbulb in the pantry by pulling the whole panel to the side. Actually made sense, who knows what we’d have to do to get it off the “right” way.

Nice message from Robert yesterday and today from Em. Nice text session about their classes and my project. They took microeconomics and ace’d the math, got an A for the term. Well done!

Thunderstorm around 3, rain poured into the open bedroom window. Very humid afterwards.

Thought we’d lost Jett! Unbeknownst to me, he’d followed me into the garage. I heard a dog barking but it was so faint, thought it was on TV. Searched the house, relieved when I found him. Guess the garage is better insulated than I thought.

Marathon

On the way to North Adams, Ron dropped off returnables at BFair.

We had a really nice lunch at the Food Project, then I dropped him off at a new-to-us optical shop on Ashland to order glasses. Fortunately, Ron was pleased with the service, and I’m relieved that it worked out after yesterday’s disappointing performance at our opthalmologist’s office.

While Ron was trying out glasses, I did a run to the food pantry on Eagle Street. Very nice people and they have a variety of produce! I had to park in the back of their building because the street is being closed off for an event this evening. Registered at their church. Brought home cabbage, broccolini, eggplant, tomatoes and one or two other veggies.

Less than great shop at Carr’s. I’d placed an order on their website and got a big pushback from the manager. Turns out the order went to their distributor and I didn’t receive an email until later this afternoon. Ended up calling the distributor myself and cancelling the order. Ron paid for the goods at the store. Snotty, sarcastic cashier. Customer service has really gone downhill there.

Back home Ron put the grill back together. We tested it; it’s fine.

He went to the transfer station with trash and yard clippings. I did a second trip with recyclables then to Stewart’s in Pownal for ice cream.

A driver from Walmart delivered my meds.

Great Customer Service

We had lunch at the Food Project, brought home bread and bagels. Picked up plant stakes at Job Lot, then to Walmart in Williamstown.

I had what I thought would be a simple exchange. It involved an online coupon, though, so complicated.

The cashier should have figured it out but she was preoccupied with nursing the poker up her butt.

It took the Team Lead to get me squared away.

He managed it but I had to step outside to get a decent wifi signal so I could log on to their website and redo the purchase.

Great guy, friendly and patient. I sent an attaboy on his behalf in a survey.

Wonder if Peter has had times like this?

Ron is mowing.

Rose of Sharon is absolutely gorgeous. Can’t seem to get a decent photo, though.

Did laundry, changed sheets.

Attended the SWCA annual barbecue. Food was bland, company was better than good.

Fans

We’ve been using the ceiling fans since it got to be in the 80’s. That includes the bedroom where we’ve turned on the mini split at night as well.

The fans keep us fairly comfortable. We still haven’t installed the air conditioners in our studies and the living room.

Found a zuke in the garden yesterday. Some of the Sweet 100’s are ripe. Little cukes, too.

Relocated three plant supports but need to get taller ones for the phlox next to the deck and the Joe Pye Weed. Rain and who knows what else did a job on the daisies, several broken stems.

Did laundry.

Jett noshed on paper and seems to be choking. Not much to do about it but give him water and hope it passes easily and quickly. I’ve been giving him CBD cookies. That seems to be helping tonight.

Worked on Remedy overview page all day. Pleased with it.

Ordered the wrong Garnier items from Walgreens that Ron was nice enough to pick up for me so I could wash my hair. Will exchange tomorrow.

Didn’t want to eat after having 3 servings of cookies after lunch! Ron wasn’t hungry either.

Disappointing Rain

We were under a severe weather watch that turned out to be a sprinkle.

I got the Spiderwort planted. Pulled more tall goldenrod to make room.

Ron made a good effort to install a new igniter in the Weber. Will try again tomorrow.

Ordered his med and groceries for delivery from Walmart. Used the prepaid VISA gift card from the survey people.

Roasted string beans, zukes, onion, boiled potatoes.

Really enjoying the Netflix version of “Little House”.

Pittsfield Errands

I picked up a Perennial Dark Purple Spiderwort today from a Pittsfield gardener who’d posted on Facebook.

Ron got backing paper for the three new watercolors at Miller Art.

Berkshire Coins claimed that our 1944 penny is worthless, but they might be wrong. The appraiser failed to notice that the location of the L in “Liberty” is on the rim. Worth taking to another shop, I think.

GPS failed us at this point but we got to Mad Macs and Route 8 for the trip home. Apple needs to advise us about Apple Care. The consultant suggested I upload my iPhone photos to Google Photos, so I set it up today. It’s currently backing up.

Before heading back home we got frappes and french fries at MacDonald’s. An ignorant woman standing behind us embarrassed herself by trying to correct the worker with a wrong list of ingredients in a frappe, which has no ice cream.

Gave Jett 2 CBD heart cookies. He’s still a mad dog.

Found Ron’s second pair of readers but we managed to misplace a tub of broccoli salad. Fourth Dimension.

Received a $125 Visa card for taking a survey.

Hurt my back, same place as usual, right side, lowest rib.

Pretty Much An Asshole

We had lunch at the Berkshire Food Project, then stopped at Greylock for a new card for Ron.

Turns out he had his most current card, which still works. The customer service person reset the PIN for him so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.

Then we went to the Registry to get him a replacement license. Turns out he had his current drivers license all along. He screamed at me yesterday out of frustration because we/I thought he couldn’t legally drive.

We stopped at Berkshire Transmission to talk with Mark about the truck defroster. He figures we can still use it, just turn up the heat. They don’t do that kind of work so he recommended a couple of shops near us.

We stopped at Great Falls and Walgreens in Williamstown. Once home, Ron announced that once again, he lost his license and Greylock card.

I was furious and disgusted. Took off with Jett to get CBD biscuits for him from Roxie’s, an errand I’d forgotten while we were in North Adams.

When we got back, Ron announced that he found his wallets. They were in his study. He didn’t misplace them, was just too lazy to look for them. He tried his usual, to involve me in a problem that he created himself.

It’s been humid and warm today and it’s probably making me cross. Definitely making me cross.

A Little Exploring Down South

Jett had his bimonthly grooming session in Peru yesterday so Ron and I drove around until, intrigued by the Becket Art Center, we stopped to check it out.

We also visited the Becket Atheneum.

Got lost on the way back to the groomer because the GPS was either not working or led us astray.

Before the trip to the groomer I did a stop at the Williamstown Food Pantry.

The dog and cat sitter that the people next door hired is fantastic. She takes care of animals on a part-time basis because she loves them and it certainly shows.

Trad Wifery

Had a conversation with our library director at Night Out about the new Makerspace.

I’m disappointed in her plans, which don’t include instruction or use of tools. She said she doesn’t want to compete with the FixIt workshops led by the rich people in South Williamstown.

Rather, she’s hired someone whose interests are in the same activities that the library has sponsored recently: fabrics, sewing, crocheting, etc.

Trad Wifery.

The closest real Makerspace is in Troy, an hour away.

It occurred to me that Andi wants to present Remedy Hall in a Trad Wife way and that’s the reason she consistently rejects my offer to help. I don’t fit the image.
