We tested the compost pH: between 6 and 7, perfect for planting. Temperature in the potato bin is also warm enough for planting the seed potatoes.

Worked on the yard and the closet at Edgewater. We sanded and applied the second coat of drywall mud. Planning to do the last sanding and apply primer tomorrow.

We mowed the patch of tall grass in the back yard. I started digging in the front to place the granite blocks.

Ron went to bed very early tonight. He was pretty whupped after some hewing and hacking at Edgewater and then later on at Dixon.

We dropped by to check out the making of the new closet. The same carpenter who installed Emme’s door built the closet today. We need to do some finish work, and he helped us by putting on the first coat of drywall mud.

We did some brush clearing on the right side of the front yard, enough so that we may actually tackle the leaves.

I watered the grass seed there and the peas and lettuce seeds here. Did a couple of loads of laundry and grilled some burgers for supper.

Beautiful day to be outside.

Did the Transfer Station run and pruned the forsythia at Edgewater.

Emme and I washed and polished the floors on Saturday. Big job, took us a full three hours, but the floors look great. She earned enough to buy herself a beautiful gown for Anime at a fundraiser for post-prom yesterday!

Brought Emme and Robert to the potluck Saturday evening. I think they were the only people there under the age of 50. Ron stayed and helped clean up while I drove them home.

Yesterday, we brought James, Robert, Shane and Ethan to Sea Mist. Nice to see the van put to proper use with all our young passengers. The kids really enjoyed their swim. We lucked out, they had the pool to themselves.

I put more Jonathan Green step 1 on the lawn. Can’t understand why I couldn’t use it all up; need to measure the yards.

Dropped in to admire the paint job in the great room across the street.

Did some more pruning in the front and like a jerk, cut my hand on a saw.

Tried to shave Fluffles; no luck. The razor doesn’t seem to work on his thick fur.

Unloaded the rest of the compost. Ron patiently cleared the rest of the stone and washed out the truck bed.

Selected and paid for the closet materials at Home Depot. Glad to have that done and grateful they were open late on Sunday! The carpenter will be working on it today at Edgewater.

We treated ourselves to pizza and ice cream last evening; too tired to cook, too tired to clean up.

Want to trim the forsythia at Edgewater, go to the Senior Center and do the transfer station run today. Ron has an appointment at his surgeon’s office this afternoon. I’m starting at Tidal Creek tomorrow.

Ron and I got a hose hooked up to the spigot in the back of the Edgewater house today.

This is huge in my world.

Ten or so years ago, I made the incredibly stupid mistake of disconnecting a hose. This caused a big problem because the hose had to run UNDER the deck. It’s taken me this long to figure out a workaround (duuuhhhh).

There is an old flagpole in the back yard, and it is about the only tool we have that was at least 10 feet long – long enough, that is, to reach across the deck.

We attached the hose to the flagpole and Ron pushed it through, within about an inch of the spigot. I couldn’t attach it, but he was able to, lefty being tighty for hoses.

This will make irrigation in the back yard infinitely easier.

We also picked up some compost at the transfer station and filled in holes in the front yard, one from where the big oak used to be and a couple of much smaller ones from the installation of the asphalt walkway.

We brought Emme back with us for tea and fish. She made a nice topping for the hake we bought yesterday at Kyler’s and I steamed the asparagus. Good dinner!

Ron drove me to a job interview in New Bedford yesterday. I’ve made it a point in recent years to plan activities around interviews, since so many have been a bust. That way, the trip won’t be wasted.

It was nice to have company, first time that. Ron found a good parking place and enjoyed listening to his music and reading a book.

We sampled and pick up a couple of items at Sid Wainer and the produce market and stopped off for donuts and coffee rolls.

He’d made a list of fish markets, and we did find one retail outlet that is open seven days a week. We loaded up on hake, Norwegian haddock, clams casino and fish cakes.

All in all, a very good day. I even got an offer to start work next week.

It started raining around noon today.

I put a solution of epsom salts and triple phosphate on the small lilacs at Edgewater. Feed triple phosphate to the hydrangeas, lilac and azalea here.

I put the seed potatoes on the windowsill today to give them time to sprout before planting.

We had a very cold night but fortunately, the plants seem to have made it okay.

Steve the carpenter installed Emmeline’s door today. I’ve asked him to come back next week to put in a closet at Edgewater.

Put down more compost yesterday.

I seeded at Edgewater yesterday, used Jonathan Green Black Beauty. Did some weeding in the grass garden, too, although at this point, my back is not very happy.

Neighbors have been very complimentary about the white stone on the right side of the driveway. It does finish off the little garden.
