I think he’s adorable, even with a flashlight between his teeth!
Traverse Rod From Hell
We’ve been struggling for days to understand the instructions that came with our Graber traverse rod.
Ron thinks he finally figured it out, but only after falling off a chair. Fortunately, he landed on my living room “stuffie”, no harm done to man or matter.
In the meantime, I made rice and beans with a side of onions and red pepper, marinated a pork tenderloin, peeled and cut a butternut squash and sauteed greens and garlic. Also did a tiny bit of weeding in one of the vegetable gardens.
Wound looked better this morning.
Ron picked up some great deals on hamburg at Roche.
My doc is dropping my health insurance, so I did a little research on options.
Got It Done
Henry VIII’s Wound
I’ve been thinking about people who have lost a leg and how hard they have to work to do even small things, and today I’m also thinking about Henry VIII, who suffered for many years with a jousting wound that never healed properly.
After showering, I took off the dressing; the odor was horrible, like nothing I’ve smelled before.
The wound had been oozing, and I think the awful smell was from dead skin. I cleaned it as well as I could. Ron brought in an alcohol solution, gauze pads and tape.
We applied antiseptic, applied new bandages, taped everything securely and put on a clean hospital sock.
I’m appalled that no one warned me to look for this.

Pushed It A Little; Amazing Alpha; Unsubscribed
Took an actual shower yesterday. Did the stairs multiple times and hauled up laundry. Had to scramble after an errant shopping cart in front of Andy’s.
Drove Alpha to work. She’s managed not only to get herself a job, but to save enough to buy her plane ticket – on her own – after soliciting advice from her Dad. Not bad for the kid!
I’ve been unsubscribing from a pile of email lists. Have been overwhelmed, especially by requests for funds.
Made salad, corn and turkey/spinach/feta burgers for supper.
Changed Water Pitcher Filter
Good ideas for Fall/Winter cleaning.
Insights
Worth mulling over, inspired by a flyer from Rowe Conference Center:
Trump’s comments about women subvert men’s instinctive role as caregiver and protector.
Rich men don’t negotiate, discuss or compromise. They dictate and ordain.
Checkup
Good checkup yesterday morning. Got the okay for 50% weight-bearing.
Drove Alpha to work and picked up the CSA on Tuesday. Did the Pantry run yesterday.
Phone woke me up this morning at 2:30 am. It was running out of juice, even though I charged it earlier in the day. Time for a new one?
Did some reformatting for Preowned and was assigned more work.
Watched Ron and Robert drink ouzo and Metaxa Amphora 7. Robert was fine, Ron was not. I drove everyone home.
Early to Bed…
Ron put up the new curtain transom yesterday. The instructions are ridiculously confusing.
After checking out the Sandwich porchfest, I drove Alpha to the bank. Picked up some pastry at the new-ish bakery in Mashpee Commons. Their pecan tarts more than justify a return visit.

One of the Edgewater neighbors has pottery for sale. Lovely stuff, I bought a bowl.
Earlier, I brought the truck out back and we unloaded the salt marsh hay. The back yard now has the scent of heaven on earth. Ron crowed about my backing into the clothes line. F-off.
Ron did the transfer station run, including a pile of blow-downs, and Falmouth errands.
I made salad and bison burgers for supper. Fell asleep around 7:30.
