Harvest

Did a little task for Jim today. Asked Isabel to please start testing credit card processing.

Picked up Alpha this afternoon and dropped off Ron’s van to GMC. His A/C is on the fritz.

Laura offered the use of her van! Her kindness continues to amaze me. She gave us a nice bunch of rhubarb, too.

We managed to cram three of us in the truck. I needed the step stool to get in and out of the back, but otherwise, it wasn’t too bad except for the stupid seat belts.

More BSODs. I’m about ready to bring this laptop to the “doctor”! The problem seems to be with SonicWall.

Hot

Hot today – over 90 – didn’t do much outside.  Ron is mowing the lawn now.  Weed Man was by.

Brought tomatoes, cukes and squash to Edgewater.

More work on John’s project.  Finally got access to the administrative interface.  Client had given me the wrong URL and login credentials.

Went looking for outdoor shower decorations:  Mashpee Commons, Marshalls, the shop on 151, a consignment store.  Didn’t find anything I liked until I came upon a pile of what looked like leftover yard sale goods, which included a perfect sign and two post hole diggers.  I will repaint the sign which now reads “CHATHAM” to “ROCK THE BOAT”.

Grilled turkey burgers (scallions, bread crumbs and soy sauce), fries, grilled zuccini and salad for supper.  Stuffed!

Sunday

Washed linens, hung them out to dry, made bed.

Transfer station.

Uploaded files to NEPS to fix some bad image links.

Greatly enjoyed the Brazilian festival at the Cotuit Center.  They entertained us with a variety of Brazilian music and fed us at a buffet from Brazilian Grille in Hyannis.

What was not to like?!

I was there from 4:30 to after 9 pm.  Particularly enjoyed Berkshire Batteria and Clas Da Bossa Nova.

Saturday

Cleaned out the shed of old chemicals and brought a bagful plus the Scotts to the annual hazardous waste collection.  Brought a box of receipts for shredding.  Saw Catherine, lobbied again for a swap shop and a coffee bar!

Poked around for decorations for the outdoor shower but didn’t find anything we liked.

Did laundry, saved 50 cents by drying outside.

Some programming.

Ron tried to clean chairs with the power washer.

I lost my reading glasses and can’t find the receipt from Wood Lumber.

Watered the rhodies and skimmias, as well as the grasses by the foundation.

Omelet and English muffins for supper.

Got Some Work Done

Finished the coding for the credit card processing. Two calls to Tech Support, got the same person each time.

Did some schedule adjustment for Christine and found that I needed to change a couple of SQL statements.

Brought some tomato cages over to Laura’s garden.

Robert came over for dinner. Steak, bourbon chicken breasts, squash, salad, strawberries, ice cream, oatmeal raisin cookies. Robert regaled us with tales from the retail dark side and of wasps invading – and being digested by – figs.

Rain (Oh My Gosh)!

Construction had to be postponed again today. A serious rainstorm started around 9 this morning and is continuing well into the afternoon.

Pool Boy and Hose Meister definitely have the day off!

I made blueberry pancakes.

Ron drove Robert to work and back, and I drove Alf to and from her Hyannis appointment. We picked up sandwich specials at Stop & Shop for lunch.

Was amazed by the crowd waiting in line, in the rain, to get in for a tour at Cape Cod Potato Chips. Their factory is behind the building where Alpha had her appointment.

Couldn’t get anything done on the payment processing project; the credit card processing company servers were down for the afternoon and evening. One of our colleagues suggested that I try again tomorrow.

Made bison burgers and french fries for supper. Managed to get the burgers grilled before the rain picked up again. We’ve gotten at least an inch today.

Work Begins on the Shower Stall

100_6420100_6422

Joe and Ron worked from noon to about 4 building walls for the new outdoor shower.

Unexpected rain had pushed off construction until afternoon, so Ron and I were able to do the transfer station run in the morning.

Gave Robert a lift home after work.

Ron had to patch the cheap shade in our bedroom – again.

Ron’s new impact wrench arrived as promised.

Steak, chicken, salad and rutabaga for supper. Ice cream, too.
