Gutters

Ron finished cleaning the gutters today at Edgewater and put in some leaf screens.

The electricians installed our new bathroom ceiling light and heat lamp.

While they were working, Ron spread compost on the little front garden and I did back yard cleanup.

Joe and Laura were here to pick up leaves. I heard their machinery even after it got dark.

Sauteed fish, onions and the last of the greens for supper. Made couscous, which I didn’t like but Ron did.

And More Leaves

It rained this morning.

Fortunately, we got Edgewater cleaned up yesterday: 3 stuffed tarps. Joe used a blower in the front.

Ron cleaned the gutters.

I damaged the lawnmower and brought it to Botello for repairs.

Rain

Rain today, but before it started, we were able to fit in two transfer station runs and some clean-up at Edgewater.

We made it to a concert at the Mashpee Library, banking at Rockland Trust and picked up groceries on the way home.

We pretty much vegged afterwards, watched a couple of episodes of The Borgias second season and Moyers and Company.

Edgewater

After Ron finished the lawn here, we went to Edgewater to work. I helped James with the leaves and Ron worked on the deck.

We are spent, but I made a good dinner anyway: baked fish, vegetables with cheese and cumin, Allspice rice, Dutch apple pie. Ron is cleaning up. I entertained myself while preparing the meal by talking to the ingredients. Yes, that is correct. Maybe that’s one reason it was so good: you can’t take your ingredients for granted, you must be kind.

Santuit Pond Cleanup

We got back a little while ago from a clean-up morning around Santuit Pond with our Conservation Agent Drew McManus and some other volunteers.

It was an excellent group, and we got a lot done. Pretty walks through the woods, too.

Drew treated us to a very nice lunch at Town Hall.

Ron thought he’d lost his favorite shirt jacket. Turns out, it was in his closet.

He’s busy finishing leaf cleanup, which we started late yesterday afternoon.

We got the new charger for the lawn mower today.

We followed the path across the street from the entrance to Childs the other day. It came out on to 151 across the street from Andy’s. There’s a huge sandpile there that looks like it’s been used by trail bikers.

Yesterday, we brought the PassMass petitions to be certified by the Barnstable and Yarmouth town clerks. On the way, we stopped at the Mill Store and bought a nice made in the USA 75% off wishing well for the back yard at Edgewater and a little electric heater that looks like a small fireplace for us.

We were able to rearrange the living room so that we can both enjoy the heater. It even fits in the bedroom. We’re looking forward to using it again tonight.

Right to Left

Seems in the Spring I can’t remember which part of the back yard gets the hottest.

Turns out, it’s the right side, where we put the rotating sprinkler.

The grasses have recovered from being pummeled by that early snow.

Done With Street Pruning

It didn’t take long: we finished the pruning requested by the DPW.

I dropped off our meager signature sheets to Sandy.

Spent most of the day studying the Visual Studio 2013 launch materials and HTML5 tutorials.

Feel guilty about missing both the Watershed event at the Museum of Art and Margaret’s foreclosure presentation. Didn’t want Ron to push it now that he’s feeling better and I just didn’t want to venture forth in the cold and the dark.

We plan to bring the tree limbs to Emma’s sheep tomorrow.

First Snow

002Spent a good chunk of yesterday filling out online medical information for the new Cal retiree plan and researching Medicare supplement plans.

Also completed the online forms for Randstad.

Ron felt like he was coming down with a cold last evening.

It was raining at 8 and now at 9:45, it’s snowing, a big change from the mild weather we’ve been having. This one was a lot earlier than last year (December 1).

Ron mentioned this morning that he enjoyed visiting Titcomb’s the other day.
