Ron’s Mac Is Fixed

I made an appointment for Ron at the Hingham Apple store Genius bar. The Genius removed 57 GB of emails from his poor laptop!

Fortunately, traffic was light for most of the trip, and he got home before a thunderstorm.  We had one massive clap of thunder, but didn’t lose power.

Got the name of an A/C specialist in Hyannis to help him with his van.

Paid off PayPal.

Made Dessert: Twice. And It’s Only Wednesday

Made peach upside down cake yesterday and an apple pie today. Neither was my best, but better than the horrible cookies that poor Ron got stuck with.

Ron is done with transporting grandkids to work for the week.

Laura and I visited the Chapmans’ gardens this afternoon at a special open house for Highfield volunteers.

Got my check, finally; it was mailed on the seventh, not the fourth.

Ron brought back a huge basket of produce yesterday from the farm.

Strange stuff with Visual Studio this afternoon. After an update, all the pages were blank. OK after a restart.

More Tree Trimming

Ron did more Russian olive hacking. He brought a load to the transfer station today and was only mildly rebuked.

He also trimmed the front bushes.

I made a really good stir-fry for supper with our zucchini and pesto, tomatoes, ricotta, mozzarella, garlic and Italian seasonings.

Made progress on my code and test code today. Lots of help.

Got my paycheck!

St. Johnswort; Blue Danube

St. Johnswort, Stokesia (Blue Danube) and one of the new daylilies (white) are blooming.

We woke up late(8:30) and groggy this morning.

Picked another free zuke and some yellow cherry tomatoes for Alpha.

Alpha and I did the transfer station run, post office and BofA ATM, ice cream at Smitty’s, a tour of a Hydrangea Festival garden, refreshments and a garden tour at Dixon, quick run to Mahoney’s (they pushed me in a wheelchair) to get the name of the Stokesia, then back to Edgewater.

Made stir fry for supper: kale, shelled snap peas, lettuce, swiss chard, peppers, scapes.

5 1/4 Inches of Rain; Cleaned Oven

We had more rain yesterday that all last summer combined.  Flooding in Falmouth on Main Street yesterday and post-flood debris in parts of Mashpee today.

I did some pruning of Summersweet and inkberry bushes, and weeding this morning.  We managed to get Peter’s grill off the porch and onto the truck.  Quick run to the transfer station.

Tree: gone; wood: gone; grill: gone; fence: fixed.  We are doing okay by Edgewater.

Finished up Laura’s scrumptious quinoa/strawberry/rhubarb pudding.

Still no checks today.  Disgusting.

Here’s the mighty zuke from the corn garden: free food from last year’s compost.

We cleaned the oven. It’s been years.

First Tomato! Strawberries! Asparagus! Rhubarb! ZUCCHINI!

One of the zucchini volunteers has produced a splendid squash.  Another has four.  These grew from seeds in our compost.

Ron and I each had a yellow cherry tomato today.  Sweet!

Laura made a delicious rhubarb-quinoa pudding, and some of the rhubarb came from our garden.

Pizza, salad and roasted kale for supper.

Between us, we made three separate trips to Stop & Shop today.  This is organization, so I’ve been told.  I was curious about the performer at the new Mashpee Commons stage, so that was the initial motivation, then I remembered that we were out of bagels and I wanted a snack for tomorrow.

Turned on the whole house fan to cool things down.  Temp in the kitchen went from 78 to 71.

I am looking forward to having money again, soon.  Hoping for rain tomorrow.

July Fourth

Ron got to use the outdoor shower for the first time this summer after cutting up 11 or so huge chunks of cherry wood yesterday. I delivered the lot to Emma after driving Robert home from work.

She gave us a dozen big, beautiful eggs and treated me to a ginger beer. Gave me a tour of her gardens, too. Her place looks great! I got to meet her nieces. Gabriel planted fava beans; he’ll be three later this summer!

We had drinks with Laura and Joe after supper. Heard a lot of fireworks and saw some in the direction of John’s Pond.

Ascelpias, yarrow, speedwell and Dwarf Bee Balm (Pink Lace Monarda) are blooming. Harvested a couple tablespoons of tiny strawberries for Ron’s cereal this morning.

Cleaned up sawdust from yesterday, finished spreading the black mulch and watered several areas this morning.

Drove to Cumby’s for gas, took a spin through Seconsett.

Splurged on two big Panera salads for lunch.

Laura and I picked up our CSA shares.

Watched “Do The Right Thing”.

A/Cs; Wood

I drove Alpha to work yesterday, then James and I loaded the truck with cherry wood, which I dropped off at Emma’s along with some oak leaves.

Ron did a little maintenance on the A/Cs, mostly cleaning; he installed the newer one in our bedroom yesterday and the other in “his” room this morning. Thank goodness. It’s 84 and humid outside, not so bad in the shade, unendurable in the sun.

Ron found the “missing” soaker in the front fence garden!

Smokey has dropped in twice already.

We started watching “What The Health” on Netflix last night. I was inspired to order three raw food cookbooks this morning, something I’ve been thinking about for over a year.

Made two big salads for lunch, green and Waldorf. Pasta and salad for supper.

Today, we got laundry (lots) and transfer station done. Ron removed the old sticker and affixed the new. We fit the rest of the wood on the truck; Ron will cut it up tomorrow. He mounted the bat house and I watered the garden at Edgewater. It’s 5:15 and we are just wrapping up.

Ron Gets It Done

Ron hauled a truckload of branches to the transfer station. The “U” looks so much better, except that one of the big hibiscus plants was smashed. Ron reserved oak leaves for Emma’s sheep. He even made a nice monkfish and seven vegetable* stir-fry!

James put up his new curtains, and they look great! I ordered another set for his third window.

Had a helpful conversation with a Rockland mortgage person yesterday. He identified yet another piece of BS that we’ve been fed from Mike’s “algorithm”, this time, about escrowing, which is not required with a loan:value less than 80%.

I am keen on replacing the vanities and medicine cabinets at Edgewater.
