Spent the morning going over our financial affairs.
Let’s just say that we don’t have the same problems as the Romneys, for example, or the Clintons or for that matter, the Obamas.
The air is fantastic: 66 degrees, low humidity, pleasant breeze.

Donated at the Mashpee Library. Got a nice beach towel.
We washed and refilled the hummer feeders. Saw our guy at the flowers near the back stairs, closest he’s come to the house.
Watched a cardinal founder around in the wisteria. Made me happy I put it there.
We had a little bit of rain.
James offered to mow the lawn. He’s set up a PayPal account that we can use! Outstanding….
Last night’s attempted meteor watch was a bust. Saw three around 10:30, got up at 3:30 for the peak, but by that time, clouds had moved in. Doesn’t look real promising for tonight, either.
Ron left to pick Emme up and I’m by myself for the first time in quite a while. Have the window open to catch a nice breeze. August has been good to us so far, not like July.
Dropped by to see Candy yesterday and had a nice visit.
The hummingbird has been enjoying the feeders quite a lot. We’ve been seeing it at least once a day. The rabbit was on the bulkhead this morning. Joe Pye Weed is beautiful and enjoyed by many.
We did a consecutive front and back yard mow this afternoon at Edgewater. I cut down the transplanted roses by half and threw compost on them. All the leaves are withered.
Had a great time last night at Craigville Beach listening to the Moonlighters and watching a magnificent sunset and the gigantic bonfire.
Ron danced! In public!
Saw the hummingbird feeding this morning.
Thought about going to Providence or to the Cape Verdean festival at Onset but ended up doing very little here today. Ron is correct, I’ve been spending time recently on budget and paying bills, quite stressful. It’s also been very humid, which takes the starch out of me even faster than heat.
Truth is, I’d rather sit on the deck and look at the birds and the garden than almost anything else. The hibiscus are in full bloom; right now, there are over a dozen bright red flowers the size of dessert plates.
We attended an excellent lecture on aging and cell regeneration at Lillie last night.
Ron was Emme’s taxi yesterday. I had a good meeting with the local Bankers Life reps. It rained pretty much all day.
Ron put up the three hummer feeders and ant “bells”. This morning, we saw the hummer several times at the feeder in the sun.
I paid a slew of bills, including the final payment to Capizzi for the work at Edgewater.
The poor transplanted roses don’t look so great.
We went to a delightful talk “Cape Odd” by local author Jim Coogan at the New Seabury country club this past week. Ron picked up four copies of his books, including two children’s books for the grandnieces and grandnephews. Gorgeous afternoon; we thoroughly enjoyed the views as well as the talk.
Attended a so-so Makers meeting last night. Ron wasn’t feeling well so I left early. He was fast asleep by the time I got home and was fine this morning.
I transplanted the roses from the oval to the left side of the garden. One wasn’t very healthy but the other looks like it might be okay. Fingers crossed.
Did weeding and deadheading today, especially in the front. Cleaned out the hummingbird feeder and a few other things I can’t remember.
Ron and I enjoyed watching an osprey sitting in one of our trees.
I did some research yesterday and confirmed that we are not in a flood zone.
Got an unexpected one-time-only payment from Social Security. Sort of miraculous, especially with a big electric bill due next week.
A recruiter lost his s*t with me on the phone today and Ron laid him out in lavender. It’s so nice to have a man around the house.
