{"id":931,"date":"2008-01-28T21:43:20","date_gmt":"2008-01-29T02:43:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=931"},"modified":"2008-01-28T21:43:20","modified_gmt":"2008-01-29T02:43:20","slug":"sweet-jane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=931","title":{"rendered":"Sweet Jane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been entranced with PBS&#8217;s latest series, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/masterpiece\/austen\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Complete Jane Austen<\/a>&#8220;: the actors, the costumes, the sets and of course, the screenplays, including writer Andrew Davies&#8217; master work, &#8220;Pride and Prejudice&#8221;.<br \/>\nIt was a particular treat to see Jemma Redgrave, the star of PBS&#8217;s 2001 mini-series <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/masterpiece\/bramwell\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Bramwell<\/a>, as Lady Bertram in &#8220;Mansfield Park&#8221;.<br \/>\nGiving &#8220;Masterpiece&#8221; newcomers their due as well, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/masterpiece\/northangerabbey\/characters.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Dymond<\/a> gave a top-notch performance as supercilious lady&#8217;s man Frederick Tilney in &#8220;Northanger Abbey&#8221;.<br \/>\nExperiencing the foibles, romances, social triumphs and comeuppances of British country society in the late 18th and early 19th centuries has been a great escape and a refined pleasure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been entranced with PBS&#8217;s latest series, &#8220;The Complete Jane Austen&#8220;: the actors, the costumes, the sets and of course, the screenplays, including writer Andrew Davies&#8217; master work, &#8220;Pride and Prejudice&#8221;.
