{"id":921,"date":"2008-01-03T20:03:14","date_gmt":"2008-01-04T01:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=921"},"modified":"2008-01-03T20:03:14","modified_gmt":"2008-01-04T01:03:14","slug":"new-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=921","title":{"rendered":"New Year&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I forgot to blog about the 2007\/2008 Newport New Year&#8217;s events that the kids and I enjoyed this year.<br \/>\nWe did some new things: a boat trip and sight-seeing\/seal watching excursion to Rose Island and swimming at the Middletown Y.<br \/>\nWe watched the Fort Adams fireworks from Jamestown; Robert and Emme got to see them from <em>indoors<\/em>, which pleased them greatly.<br \/>\nWe had a terrific lunch at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atlanticbeachclub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Atlantic Beach Club<\/a> and our traditional Newport Creamery <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newportcreamery.com\/menu.htm#drinks\" target=\"_blank\">Awful Awfuls<\/a>.<br \/>\nI rented a Rav4 to give the kids who have to sit in the back a break.<br \/>\nWe totally lucked out for weather.  The worst part of the trip is packing up and driving to Milton for the New Year&#8217;s Day visit with Bis, but we missed the snow, had rain the whole way, a mercy.<br \/>\nThrough Brockton on Route 24 at 1:30 in the afternoon, it was 35 degrees.  Four hours later, on the Cape, it was 44 degrees.
