{"id":655,"date":"2006-05-20T06:54:27","date_gmt":"2006-05-20T11:54:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=655"},"modified":"2006-05-20T06:54:27","modified_gmt":"2006-05-20T11:54:27","slug":"gardeners-diary-32","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=655","title":{"rendered":"Gardener&#8217;s Diary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Plant sales start in earnest today, there are probably half a dozen at various locations, including across the street.<br \/>\nI did a survey of the gardens this morning and found only a couple of empty spots, so it&#8217;ll be worth it to check out what the Master Gardners have to offer.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nI&#8217;ve been pleased to see that the azalea I transplanted at P&B&#8217;s earlier this spring is doing very well, and the little rhodie put in a couple of years ago has finally bloomed.  They do have lots of color in the front, something Peter likes.<br \/>\nDid some light pruning over there during the week, mainly on the potentilla, which I should probably put in a sunnier spot and replace with something shade-tolerant, and a mountain laurel that was out of control.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve been working my way from the front yard to the back, which mostly needs to lose a couple of trees and gain some loam.  The spot where I&#8217;ve envisioned a garden needs to be cleared of overgrown forsythia &#8211; big jobs requiring help and a chainsaw.<br \/>\nDid a lousy job of mowing my own lawn one evening this week, it&#8217;s hard to see in the late afternoon\/early evening.  Oh, well, at least it&#8217;s no longer the eyesore it was, the tall stands of crabgrass under control for now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Plant sales start in earnest today, there are probably half a dozen at various locations, including across the street.
