Tourism has been off the last two years, and as a full-time Cape resident, I keep hoping the so-called leaders on this island will wake up to that fact.<br \/>\nOur local Chambers of Commerce are for the most part a sorry bunch. As someone put it, we have plenty of leaders, but no leadership. Not that the residents themselves are a particularly progressive bunch: in a recent survey by the Cape Cod Commission, the quality of area public schools ranked at or near the bottom of the list of civic concerns.<br \/>\nI have no particular plans for the weekend, other than to pay some bills and give the house an overdue cleaning. One of my friends extended a tentative invite for Sunday dinner and another may or may not be available for a movie, depending on her work schedule.<br \/>\nI finished a big project at work, with a little minor cleanup once we started getting more user feedback. P, B and the kids are on their way back, so I&#8217;ll have Max duty for one more day, something I&#8217;ve actually come to enjoy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seems like everyone at the office was looking forward to the end of the work week, including me.
