{"id":617,"date":"2006-03-01T06:01:27","date_gmt":"2006-03-01T11:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=617"},"modified":"2006-03-01T06:01:27","modified_gmt":"2006-03-01T11:01:27","slug":"its-own-reward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=617","title":{"rendered":"Its Own Reward?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Evidently medical professionals have observed for years that Parkinson&#8217;s patients are of a type, characterized by:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/nation\/articles\/2006\/02\/25\/parkinsons_profile_suggested_hard_workers_straight_arrows\/\" target=\"_blank\">industriousness, punctuality, orderliness, inflexibility, cautiousness, and lack of novelty-seeking, drive, ambition, altruism, cleanliness, and a tendency toward obsession with details.<\/a><\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nOne can&#8217;t help but notice that these are all the qualities which make people successful in corporations and public school classrooms, and it&#8217;s the same tiresome list that&#8217;s preached from pulpits of virtually every religion, including the supposedly enlightened ones, like Buddhism.<br \/>\nThe hypothesis is that the same disease agent that causes Parkinson&#8217;s causes this straight-arrow behavior.  Parkinson&#8217;s patients also eschew drinking, smoking and activities like gambling, perhaps because their bodies aren&#8217;t capable of producing dopamine.
