Yesterday, we were hit by a morning snowstorm that turned rush hour traffic into a misery. The road conditions in Southeastern Mass. and the Boston area weren’t bad, but visibility was way, way down.<\/p>
\nI took the bus to Boston yesterday morning, and at one point, the driver said we were detouring to an alternate route because a normal 20 minute drive on our usual connecting highway had become a 2 hour ordeal.
\nAround mid-afternoon, I witnessed a shouting match between two plow operators in Boston. One had dumped the snow from a private parking lot onto a city street, and the city plow operator – an independent contractor, from the lack of insignia on his truck – was yelling “Whattheheck do you expect me to do with THAT?”
\nWhen I left the office in the evening, the pile of heavy, dense snow was still there: I fully empathized with the city driver, who no doubt didn’t want to risk blowing out the trannie on his own truck.
\nBy evening, in fact by early afternoon, the snow turned to rain, and the evening commute was a snap: from the relatively light traffic, a lot of people must have stayed home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
