Started early today, another bout of insomnia, which was ill-timed, considering that a stop at the medical lab was on the agenda, and they didn’t open until 8.<\/p>
\nGot to the lab a little early and engaged in some pleasant chit-chat with two other folks; we were happy that there wasn’t a mob scene – sometimes, as many as 30 people are in line waiting for the doors to open.
\nThe tech did the paperwork and got me in and out pretty quickly. I stopped for breakfast at Starbucks, redeeming a nice gift card from my bank, and headed to #11 to haul the old electric stove to the transfer station, the last stage of Peter’s birthday\/Christmas present.
\nPeter and I managed to jockey the stove onto the truck, and while we were at it, filled up the bed with trash bags and recycling.
\nWe got to the transfer station just before a big rush, greatly relieved to get that nasty job done before they closed at noon – they were on an early schedule because of the holiday.
\nAfter heave-hoing the stove, I FINALLY repaired the picket fence – a truck had backed into it this summer, and I’d been waiting until the garden was done to fix it.
\nThe job went a lot easier than I thought, and I’m feeling a little foolish for putting it off for so long.
\nIt’s a picture-perfect day and would be a great time to do just about anything outdoors – like trying out the splendid new pruning set that the kids gave me for Christmas.
