The first post on a Blog for All Seasons was exactly two years ago.
\nAs was the case then, I spent a good part of today with my grandkids, and as was the case then, one happens to be 8: my granddaughter, Emmeline.<\/p>
\nEmme accomplished a major rite of passage this weekend: she rode a two-wheeler for the first time.
\nShe has a lot of practice ahead, but by this morning, she was able to get on the bike, peddle a fair distance and even turn.
\nSo, the kids have grown a lot over the last two years, but what other changes have happened?
\nWell, the Cape Cod .NET User Group has devolved to a mailing list.
\nWe are still stuck with Bush.
\nThe economy is still pretty bad for tech workers.
\nPeter seems slightly more reconciled to observing his birthday at my house this year, especially since I promised to hold off on Christmas decorations until AFTER the event, and to make cuplit, a type of delicate cheese ravioli cooked and served in chicken broth.
\nMy favorite ice cream (an actual question on an employment application) is blueberry frozen yogurt from Four Seas.
\nI’m enjoying .NET a lot more and never want to go back to writing new applications in classic ASP.
\nThe conversation I had with Bob two years ago about Yu-Gi-Oh morphed into a tech-based after school program for kids in grades 3-8. This experience has taught me a lot about public education, very little of it good.
\nI can no longer bear to watch either version of the “The Apprentice”.
\nMacworld\/Boston is no more.
\nThe closest outlet for Krispy Kremes was their new store in Warwick, RI. You can now buy them off the shelf almost everywhere, but I don’t eat them any more.
\nThat covers the first couple of months of subjects covered when I started A Blog for All Seasons.
\nWhat changes the next two years will bring I cannot possibly imagine. I only hope that on November 27, 2007, we are all in a better place than we are now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
