{"id":509,"date":"2005-10-23T07:35:26","date_gmt":"2005-10-23T12:35:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=509"},"modified":"2005-10-23T07:35:26","modified_gmt":"2005-10-23T12:35:26","slug":"correction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=509","title":{"rendered":"Correction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/archives\/2005\/10\/108000.html\" target=\"_blank\">earlier blog<\/a>, I blasted Massachusetts for allocating $25 million for the 230 or so Katrina evacuees airlifted to Camp Edwards, providing $108,000 in largesse for each man, woman and child in that group.<br \/>\nI stand corrected.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe actual EXPENDITURE was a mere $4.5 million, which translates to a little under $20,000 per person.<br \/>\nThis, of course, doesn&#8217;t include private contributions, and it doesn&#8217;t look at long-term estimates of housing, clothing and feeding people who will not be self-supporting.<br \/>\n$20,000 is still a good chunk of change, and probably most of that went to the army of paid professional staff at Edwards rather than to the evacuees themselves.<br \/>\nI still think the whole thing was really stupid, but maybe we&#8217;ll get a Cajun restaurant or two out of the deal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an earlier blog, I blasted Massachusetts for allocating $25 million for the 230 or so Katrina evacuees airlifted to Camp Edwards, providing $108,000 in largesse for each man, woman and child in that group.
