{"id":487,"date":"2005-10-05T11:27:25","date_gmt":"2005-10-05T16:27:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=487"},"modified":"2005-10-05T11:27:25","modified_gmt":"2005-10-05T16:27:25","slug":"send-us-your-tired-your-poor-whoops-thats-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=487","title":{"rendered":"Send Us Your Tired, Your Poor (Whoops, That&#8217;s Us)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AP reports that the FDIC <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capecodonline.com\/cctimes\/biz\/neconomy5.htm\" target=\"_blank\">ranked Massachusetts 45th<\/a> out of the 50 states for job growth in Q2 this year and New England, 8th out of the 9 regions nationally.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nThis is due to several factors:  loss of population in Mass., slow population growth in New England generally, and the local dependence on technology jobs.<br \/>\nMass. has gained only a quarter of the 207,000 jobs lost since 2001.<br \/>\nThe only folks worse off than us are the East North Central region that used to be known as the rust belt:  Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.<br \/>\nOn the other hand, the geniuses at the Division of Unemployment Statistics claim that the rate of joblessness here is a mere 4.2%.
