I keep reading about rich “baby boomers”. You’d think here on Seizure World East I’d have run into a few by now, but I’ll be darned if I can find them.
\nHere’s the latest scoop on what the Boomers are up to, from a CNN article:
\nBallroom dancing is particularly popular among aging baby boomers who didn’t grow up with many opportunities for formal dancing, says Richards. Typically, their dancing history consisted of freestyle moves “with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other,” he says. Now, however, they find themselves at charity balls, cruises and other settings where ballroom dancing takes place <\/strong>and they want to learn about it so they sign up for classes.<\/em><\/p>


\nCharity balls and cruises? Are they kidding?
\nI know of no one who attended a Charity Ball, and only three families who went on cruises this year: a 30-something couple who paid for it from an unexpected inheritance; a woman my age who funded hers from her annual bonus; and another couple who went abroad with their 2 preschool kids for a family reunion.
\nNone of these are charity ball kind of people, and none, except for my friend, are even close to being “Boomers”.
\nExcept for one or two exceptions, the Boomers that I know are broke, feel lousy, and are dreading the coming of winter, with heating oil at $3\/gallon and utility rates expected to go up 24%.
