{"id":479,"date":"2005-09-29T07:41:26","date_gmt":"2005-09-29T12:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=479"},"modified":"2005-09-29T07:41:26","modified_gmt":"2005-09-29T12:41:26","slug":"gardeners-diary-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=479","title":{"rendered":"Gardener&#8217;s Diary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, I finally <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/capecoder\/47150614\/\" target=\"_blank\">edged the garden in front of the fence<\/a>, and put in some cocoa shell mulch to finish it off.<br \/>\nYesterday, I noticed the mulch had a fibrous white mold, some cause for concern since I don&#8217;t want to encourage parasites.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nTurns out, white mold is pretty common, and is in fact a good thing, since it breaks down the mulch, making its nutrients more readily available to the plants.<br \/>\nOne of the Montauks is in full bloom, and a couple of neighbors have commented on how much they enjoy this year&#8217;s assortment of flowers, at this point mostly shades of purple.<br \/>\nThe garden is starting to &#8220;balance out&#8221;, with some of the plants being tall enough to counterpoint the massive Fairy Rose.<br \/>\nI just wish I had some cutting flowers.
