{"id":278,"date":"2005-02-06T07:12:04","date_gmt":"2005-02-06T12:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=278"},"modified":"2005-02-06T07:12:04","modified_gmt":"2005-02-06T12:12:04","slug":"gardeners-diary-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=278","title":{"rendered":"Gardener&#8217;s Diary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Looks like we have another good day for melt, and thank heaven for it.<br \/>\nEven with last week&#8217;s relatively mild weather, we still have a foot or more of snow in some places.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe flower boxes and the deck are clear of the stuff, though, and I was able to do some pruning, having discovered that a number of plants seem to be green even after the brutal cold, a gratifying yet humbling thing to observe.<br \/>\nThe rhodie outside the office window has normal-looking leaves, and the melt has released most of the bushes from the snow.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m certain that there are already thousands of seedlings at Twin Gardens and other nurseries; the serious growers started planting in early January.<br \/>\nMid-March, the time for soil prep, is only a month away, and the Master Gardeners&#8217; class on Backyard Horticulture starts in a couple of weeks.<br \/>\nWe&#8217;re getting there, &#8220;there&#8221; being Spring, something definitely to look forward to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looks like we have another good day for melt, and thank heaven for it.
