{"id":266,"date":"2005-01-25T09:44:26","date_gmt":"2005-01-25T14:44:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/wp\/?p=266"},"modified":"2005-01-25T09:44:26","modified_gmt":"2005-01-25T14:44:26","slug":"clear-today-snow-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hendersonbrook.net\/?p=266","title":{"rendered":"Clear Today, Snow Tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Misery, thy name is Mashpee.<br \/>\nOnly kidding.<br \/>\nYesterday, my neighbors and I dug out of the 36 inch+ Blizzard of 2005, the worst in 100 years of recorded history on Cape Cod.<br \/>\nI guess there&#8217;s comfort in assuming that we won&#8217;t get another one like this for another 100 years.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nSpent yesterday morning digging out 3 driveways, including my own, only to find that when I went out for an errand later in the day, I needed to do yet more digging to get my car back IN.<br \/>\nThis morning, I waded through over-the-knee-high snow to clear the dryer vent at the back of the house, the last safety item to be dealt with.<br \/>\nIn spite of all the excellent, accurate weather forecasts, I was ill-prepared for this storm.<br \/>\nOh, sure, the shovels were in place, there was plenty of milk and bread, the cell and &#8220;regular&#8221; non-cordless phones were available, and I had dozens of candles and a bag of ice melt.  Still, I forgot to refill a prescription, and the one battery-operated radio was useless in spite of the piles of AA, A, C- and D-cells which I&#8217;d stocked up &#8211; the radio only takes a 9-volt.  Duh.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s funny, in spite of the enormous piles of snow, little things can make you feel &#8220;back to normal&#8221;.  For example, it made me happy this morning to be able to go out on my deck, which I&#8217;d more or less cleared yesterday.<br \/>\nThey say it&#8217;s supposed to snow again tomorrow and Thursday, then we get much milder weather next week, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.victoly.com\/~capecoder\/archives\/000870.html\" target=\"_blank\">January thaw<\/a>, a little late this year, but welcome just the same.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Misery, thy name is Mashpee.
