I generally don’t look forward to Christmastime, but this year, things have been pretty good.
\nThe grands and I have been to two nice, walk-around displays of Christmas lights, and, amazingly for a woman “of a certain age”, this has turned into a party weekend with business associates and friends.<\/p>
\nFriday night was the company party, the nicest I’ve ever been to: not one of those dreadful corporate affairs, but a pleasant, low-key gathering with co-workers and their families, including 9 little ones from ages 1-9.
\nTonight was an hors d’oeuvre and dessert get-together with old friends and colleagues, some of whom I’ve known for over 5 years.
\nNot to knock the Cape’s hospitality industry which keeps the region afloat, but I prefer a buffet-style party in a home instead of a sit-down dinner in a restaurant or a function room.
\nPeople can wander as they like, talk with whomever they like, and laugh whenever they like.
\nTomorrow morning, I’ll be joining two of my close galpals, for breakfast. In a home. As it should be.
