I don’t want to do anything today but post to the weblog and watch the light change. I don’t want to shower, dress, change sheets, pay bills, fight the tourons on the roads and the supermarkets, or read about the haves and have-mores that swamp the news and entertainment sections of both the print and online media.<\/p>
\nYesterday was a 7 to 9-er: fed the plants, did a few hours of chambermaiding (becoming a semi-official second job), “minded” the grandkids, watered Peter’s garden. I fit in a quick shower and change of clothes between gigs, which was lucky since P&B had invited guests for dinner, which they were nice enough to prepare for all of us before they took off for their night out.
\nMeanwhile, my car regularly stalled out instead of idling on the way back from Dennisport, so the trip back was a real nail-biter.
\nWe are up against a couple of deadlines with the .NET project, and I’d planned to go to client site today. Still, since Tony helped me get the PC back on line that has VS.NET installed, I could (new thought) just work from here, in the home office with windows instead of the viewless basement where I’ve been coding for the last six months, and save the trip back and forth to Hyannis.
\nThe lawn needs mowing, the car needs gas, and I’m scheduled for the weekly dump run this morning. I have a meeting tomorrow with my customer. I may quit the project because it’s become so adversarial, but probably won’t. I may take the rest of the summer off to study for cert exams, but probably won’t.
\nIf time were not an obstacle, I would be at White Horse again on a flawless evening, dressed in the uniform of espadrilles, shorts and sweatshirt, walking from my grandmother’s beach house to the bowling alley where my cousin Rick used to work, walking on a perfect night with all the other girls of summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
