Cyber Seniors

We attended their presentation at the Harper Center and enjoyed loaded baked potatoes and beans for lunch.

Unfortunately, I was somewhat complicit in passing bad information. Someone asked the speaker if Apple Airports are secure. She didn’t know what it was but after Googling it, averred that if it has a password, it’s secure. I agreed with her but turns out, that’s wrong. I emailed Brian this morning, requesting that he let those in attendance know.

Ron disposed of the front yard detritus that has been bothering him. We moved the barrels to the back. That and pulling the last weed has greatly improved our house’s curb appeal.

I got the Braven connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth.

Mailed the application for fuel assistance.

We prepped corn and beans for tonight. I prepped a pile of veggies for a train wreck tomorrow: potatoes, carrots, turnips, onion, garlic, sweet peppers, beets.

Ron’s Off to the Transfer Station

Ron brought what must be close to a hundred pounds of plant detritus to the transfer station this morning.

He also picked up groceries and produce from the Food Pantry and lunches from the senior center.

Meanwhile, I raked out the driveway side area we’ve worked on the last couple of days. Found a deteriorated stump and old roots. After raking, we put down mulch.

Did a deep, long watering of the corner and deck gardens.

Jett hates his food.

No Lunch or Supper, Just Work

Believe I have the application deployment and database migration figured out. Still debugging. Unbelievable.

Sent a blurb for publication at Williams College.

Jett has been using his water bowl in my study.

Ron and I cleared more weeds from the driveway side garden. I think it’ll be nice once we spread mulch. Need to identify the unknowns to see if they are worth keeping. Lot of work.

Talked with Mirabito, sent their info request to the former owner’s North Adams daughter. Hope it’s the correct address.

Still waiting for the property tax bill so I can complete the fuel assistance application. I think I have everything else.

The poor Canon printer which has been such a great help is having problems with the paper feed. I can’t figure out what happened. Think one of the paper guides fell off and I can’t find it or even a picture of it.

Fortunately, I was able to find the cable for the Brother and switched out the printers.

Up and At’em

Up at quarter of six this morning. Jett was waiting in the hallway. I let him out, made his breakfast and eventually, mine, too.

“Down” this morning, a clue that I need to do some physical work. So, I yanked weeds from the driveway side garden.

Ron got a haircut today at the Harper Center. We are both happy with it.

We had our six-month dental cleanings and checkups today.

I think whatever idiot in the Trump administration ordered the ICE raid of the Hyundai plant in Georgia should be fired for cause.

Weeds

Noticed today that the driveway side garden is surrounded by invasive weeds. I pulled some out but more to do.

Yesterday we did a shop at BigY and saved almost $20. Later we headed back to North Adams for Covid shots at CVS. Their registration site is excellent, far superior to Walmart’s.

The CVS vaccination clinic was fast and efficient. Saw a pharmacist right away, no hassle with registration. This compares to waiting for a full hour at Walmart for the flu vaccine. Never again!

We stopped at the big liquor store afterwards. The wine we paid $14 for was available there for $7.99. I’m thinking the price might have been a mistake, it’s a lot more than that online. Must get more.

I was up early today to water, etc., and after breakfast and coffee, went back to bed for a couple of hours. Jett kept me company. He and Ron went for a walk up the hill.

We attended an ice cream social fundraiser yesterday at Wild Oats Market. Ron enjoyed the band; we sat briefly with the mother and grandmother of one of the musicians.

I had a Prime Video credit and used it to rent “I Am A Noise”. Watched half of it last night and the rest this evening.

Enjoyed corn from Chenail Farm for supper.

Stir-Fry

Beans from the garden, yellow beets, bunch of kale, carrots, onions, garlic. Rice.

Ron is working on the lawn.

I was tossing balls to Jett this morning and inadvertently whacked him pretty hard.

Reassuring email about the lilac.

Busy

Jett is still not eating.

Made a zucchini pie with the two zukes from the garden.

After anchoring the empty pie shell with pinto beans from the Pantry, cooked the beans.

Also made matzo ball soup from a package. Hoped to flavor up Jett’s food with the broth but he still won’t eat.

The heirloom Brandywine tomato looks like it’s ripened. A big garden tomato fell off so I rescued it, hoping it’ll continue ripening inside.

Ron did laundry, we changed the sheets. Put on the new blanket.

More work on the inventory app. Transitioning to SQLExpress and so far, it’s handled everything very well.

Machine seemed to be running out of RAM yesterday evening, so I shut it down and restarted it this morning.

Plants, Rain

We got our four new plants in the ground before a deluge this afternoon. We had enough soil from prior digging to fill in the lilac. Ron did a great job excavating and hauling.

Our timing was good: it started sprinkling just as we were putting away tools.

After mulling over placement for days, I’m pleased with how everything looks. The lilac will get plenty of sun and I hope the silene regias and the winterberry will do okay in their part shade.

I also weeded and cleaned up the ferns. They were a mess, knocked over from who knows what, an animal or maybe the last heavy rain. Garden looks 100% better.

We skipped Five Pound Horse at First Friday in North Adams last evening, but turns out, after watching a couple of videos, Ron isn’t crazy about their music, so just as well.

We steamed corn for lunch. I sauteed leftover chopped vegetables and an egg/breadcrumb mixture left from prepping eggplant for a casserole. All very filling. Trying to unload odds and ends from the frig.

Ron took Jett for a long walk up the hill. He kept Jett busy while I worked on the Inventory app. Keeping the functionality the same, doing cleanup. Changed “products” to “relief items” in the code and in SQL.

Met with Andi yesterday. Got the code on the new machine and a successful database connection.

Up at 4 am yesterday, took a nap in the afternoon but was pretty groggy afterwards. Slept better last night.

Last Chalet

I worked most of the day on the Remedy project while Ron kept Jett entertained.

We enjoyed listening to the Berkshire Fife and Drum Corps at the Mass MoCA Chalet last night. Had drinks, cheese and crackers at home afterwards.

Rained last night.

Zukes

Garden has produced two zucchini, one of each variety.

Yesterday I visited the Food Pantry. Ron picked up CSA vegetables. I sauteed veg meatballs with onions, garlic and a sweet pepper for supper.

Jett refused to eat yesterday but had his breakfast this morning. He met the new neighbor’s dog, Buddy. Buddy was nervous and aggressive; hoping he’ll take to Jett over time.
